Jonathan Mills, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Heartland Catfish Company, has been named one of the Top 50 Under 40 in Mississippi by the Mississippi Business Journal (MBJ). The MBJ picks 50 of the best and brightest business associates under the age of 40 in the state each year.
“I am grateful to be selected as a member of this year’s class of Top 50 under 40,” Mills said. “This is a very talented group of individuals and it’s an honor to be included among them.”
Mills has worked with Heartland Catfish Company for more than a decade. As the director of sales and marketing, he has had a direct hand in growing the company into the industry leader that it is today. His sales team has worked to expand the footprint of Heartland Catfish into major grocery retailers throughout the lower 48 states. Through an extensive food service distribution network, Heartland Catfish is served at restaurant locations large and small.
“I’m proud to market and sell our Mississippi catfish to consumers throughout the country. We’re giving them a taste of the Delta and supporting jobs for family farmers and our employees at the same time,” he said.
Mills stays involved in the greater catfish industry. He works to promote the health and economic benefits of U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish to the market in general. Mills serves on The Catfish Institute’s Board of Directors, which focuses on stimulating and regulating the farm-raised catfish industry of America. He also serves as Vice Chairman of the Aquaculture Committee of the Delta Council. They partner with the Catfish Farmers of America to research sustainable practices in the catfish industry.
Prior to joining Heartland Catfish Company, Mills was a practicing lawyer. He earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Mississippi College School of Law after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in political science from Mississippi State University.
