Heartland Catfish Company’s facilities are currently open and fully operational. As a U.S. food producer and processor, we feel obligated to do all we can to continue putting high-quality food on our customers’ shelves and tables while also keeping our employees safe as we all face COVID-19.
The U.S. government has identified the food supply as a critical infrastructure industry and has indicated our responsibility to maintain normal work, as long as it is safe for our employees. We take this responsibility seriously, and our team continues to monitor information about COVID-19 from The Centers for Disease Control, the World Health Organization, other health authorities and government at all levels.
We also continue to monitor COVID-19 in the Mississippi community where we live and work. Our team has adopted the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, providing paid sick and family leave and other benefits to our employees if needed. Additionally, our existing partnership with a local medical clinic will continue should employees or their families need medical care due to COVID-19. We currently maintain the highest standards of sanitation and food safety in the industry and will continue to fully sanitize our facilities every 24 hours.
Business continuity plans have been reviewed by our leadership team and should any change in staffing occur due to COVID-19, we are prepared to streamline production to still meet product demand for retail customers, food service customers and our end consumers. Additionally, our facility allows us to operate the largest freezing capacity in our industry, so customers will have extra frozen products available to them should it be needed.
We offer our prayers and well wishes to all those affected by COVID-19 and extend heartfelt thanks to the health care professionals who are working around the clock to protect our country’s citizens from further harm. We also thank everyone who is helping keep food on tables across the U.S., including farmers, producers, retailers, government inspectors, transporters and the entire food supply chain.
Heartland Catfish Company is committed to do our part in helping our employees, community and country navigate this difficult and unprecedented time.
